Abstract: Today, most data on the internet is locked in centralized data silos. With zero knowledge proofs and zkTLS, we can permissionlessly and privately export web2 data (e.g., “this payment settled” or “this email came from X”) to other applications including blockchains without trusted middlemen. The talk gives a short ZK primer, explains zkTLS and why we need it, and compares four approaches: proxy-TLS (zkTLS), MPC-TLS (TLSNotary), TEEs, and zkEmail, with a focus on trust assumptions, cost, and user experience. We conclude with applications you can build today, including what we have built at ZKP2P.
